Madison Greenstone
Madison Greenstone is a clarinetist who performs regularly as a soloist, improvisor, and chamber musician. Madison’s solo performance practice pushes the limits of instrumental innate expressivities by treating the instrument as a site of indeterminacy and generative instability. They are the clarinetist of TAK Ensemble, “one of the most prominent ensembles in the United States practicing truly experimental music” (I Care If You Listen), and founding member of the [Switch~ Ensemble].
Madison performs regularly with ensembles such as Alarm Will Sound, Either/Or, Argento, and Contemporaneous, as well as with others in NYC and abroad. They can be heard on labels such as Impakt Kollektiv (DE), eë editions (AT), TAK editions, Unknown Tapes, Wandelweiser Editions, New Focus Records, Tripticks Tapes, and upcoming on Relative Pitch Records. Highlights from the 2022-23 season include the premiere of ‘for jaimie branch’ by Tyshawn Sorey presented by the New York Philharmonic’s Nightcap series, the release of Dream Timbre (low clarinets + electronics duo with Michelle Lou) on Unknown Tapes, and TAK Ensemble’s 10th Anniversary Festival SWOON FEST.
