Mira Glenn

Mira Williams is a violist and and active soloist, chamber and orchestral musician originally from Chicago. Mira attended the New England Conservatory in Boston, studying with Kim Kashkashian, Nicholas Cords, and Cathy Basrak, and is currently finishing a masters degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with David Takeno. Propelled by her early background exploring Chicago’s vast sonic offerings with her musical family, Mira’s passion for all genres has made her a champion of contemporary music and a regular collaborator with living composers and popular musicians.

With her quartet, Highland Street, which was formed at the New England Conservatory, Mira has performed with organizations all over Boston and beyond, including the Banff Centre, Music in the Vineyards, NPR’s From the Top, and Music For Food, and collaborated with ensembles like the Miro, Escher, Parker, Eybler, Pacifica, and JACK Quartets. Mira is a frequent performer with New England-area ensembles including the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, New Bedford Symphony, Eureka Ensemble, Rasa Quartet, and Plymouth Symphony. When in London, Mira has worked frequently with the Chineke! Orchestra and her own Coalitio Quartet. She has soloed with the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra and Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago, and has been featured numerous times on Chicago’s own WFMT classical music station and NPR’s From the Top, with From the Top eventually co-producing a New England area “classical roadshow” tour with Highland Street. Mira is a Sphinx Organization MPower Artist, From the Top Jack Kent Cooke Scholar, and Chicago Musician’s Club of Women scholarship award winner.
