Nathan Reising
Nathan Reising is a Baltimore-born saxophonist, pianist, composer, and songwriter who has quickly established himself in New York City’s jazz and improvised music scene since 2018. His work has earned recognition in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, and he is best known for his association with MacArthur Genius and Pulitzer Prize Finalist Tyshawn Sorey in the Tyshawn Sorey Sextet, whose debut album “Unfiltered” followed a sold-out Jazz Gallery residency. He holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory, where he was mentored by Jerry Bergonzi, Jason Moran, Miguel Zenón, and Donny McCaslin, among others. Nathan defies genre boundaries, drawing from jazz, indie rock, folk, and classical influences in his work. He also won the Downbeat Magazine Jazz Soloist award during his time at NEC.
