Nora Stanley is a New York-based saxophonist and composer whose interests and work live at the intersection of composed and improvised music. With strong roots in the jazz, folk, rock and improvised music traditions, Nora’s music emphasizes interaction and collaboration. Nora leads a quartet featuring her original compositions, co-leads a duo project with keyboardist Benny Bock exploring sounds both acoustic and electric, and is also a member of the New York-based Balinese Gamelan Dharma Swara. Nora has performed and toured alongside Beth Orton, Dayna Stephens and Gary Bartz and appeared at venues such as Bimbo’s 365 Club, SFJAZZ and Monterey Jazz Festival. In 2023 she was a fellow at MacDowell Artist Residency.
