Samantha Kochis
Samantha Kochis is a Brooklyn-based flutist, improvisor, and composer who explores various creative environments as a performer of experimental music. Her creative practice is based in the preservation of the natural world, often incorporating field recordings and soundscapes into her works. As an improviser, Samantha draws from the tradition of free jazz and deep listening to engage sonic conversations with listeners and collaborators alike. Her playing is described as “deeply intentioned” and “sensitive yet powerful”. Samantha holds a BM in K-12 Music Education from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania and a MM in Flute Performance and Composition from The New School.
