Selendis Johnson
Selendis Sebastian Alexander Johnson is a vibraphonist and trombonist from the San Francisco Bay Area living in New York City since 2018. Moving to New York to attend The New School’s program for Jazz & Contemporary Music, she found experience working across a range of styles, though settling into a central practice studying and working with the tradition of black-american experimental and improvised music. To be seen regularly performing around New York, Johnson has a particular interest in creating and working in performance spaces that allow for deeper community, and may be less traditional. Johnson can be seen performing at churches, apartments, colleges, record shops, in addition to the occasional gig at a full time venue.
