Jordan Balaber
Jordan Balaber (b. 1992, Washington, DC) is a guitarist, composer, and producer based in Queens, New York. His work has been praised by Mary Anne Hobbs, The Quietus, The Guardian, Dummy, and NTS Radio. A founding member of the Liverpool experimental-pop trio Ninetails, he is also known for collaborations with cellist Lester St. Louis and choreographer Nikima Jagudajev. Since 2016, Balaber has created live sonic environments for Jagudajev’s performances and installations in the United States, Mexico, and Europe, including MoMA PS1, the Whitney Museum of American Art, Kurimanzutto, Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève, and Mumok. In 2020, Balaber, Jagudajev, and St. Louis released the vinyl record Basically, commissioned by Bergen Kunsthall and supported by the Creative Europe Programme. Since then, his work spans songwriting, film scoring, and interdisciplinary performance. He is currently collaborating with Irish songwriter Gemma Dunleavy and developing new recorded material with Ninetails, Jagudajev, and St. Louis.
